BACKGROUND
The customer is a plastics manufacturer that produces polyvinyl alcohol powder. Their feedstock is vinyl acetate monomer and methanol. They also have acetic acid applications.
CHALLENGES FACED
The customer used a gasket on their stainless-steel flat face and raised face flanges that caused compatibility issues. The resulting flange failures caused unplanned downtime and increased maintenance costs. As a result, the customer needed to find a new gasket solution.
