Garlock recommends a maximum compressive stress of 15,000 psi on compressed fiber and GYLON® gasketing, and 10,000 psi on GRAPH-LOCK® and MULTI-SWELL gasketing. The actual crush strength of these materials is typically higher. Maximum stress on rubber is 900 psi for materials under 70 Shore A durometer and 1200 psi for 70 Shore A and higher.
