Style 8922 is a more versatile packing than PTFE packing. It is a true general service suitable for a larger variety of applications when the media chemical austerity does not absolutely require use of pure Teflon. Although it has the greatest chemical resistance and might seem an ''easy choice'', pure PTFE packing should only be selected when no other options are suitable. Selecting a pure PTFE packing when the chemical harshness does not require it, might lead to system failing prematurely. Style 8922 will not creep and create thermal expansion leading to failure as pure Teflon can. Made with SYNTHEPAK™ fiber material completely impregnated with PTFE through a proprietary Garlock coating process, internal voids are filled, eliminating exposed fiber and moisture entrapment left by other packing treatments. Snow-white petrolatum is also applied on the packing to ease start-up.
- Overview
Features and Benefits:
- More versatile packing, suitable for a larger variety of applications when the media chemical austerity does not absolutely require use of pure teflon
- Best option to get most of the benefits of a pure PTFE packing but with less of its drawbacks as it will not creep and create thermal expansion leading to failure as pure teflon would
- PTFE infused SYNTHEPAK makes this clean and dependable packing for true general service with chemical resistance
- Garlock proprietary coating process fills internal voids, eliminating the dry centers left by other packing treatments
- Reduces shaft and sleeve wear for lower operational costs
- Lower inventory stocking costs, lean, dependable service
- All white packing that will not introduce colour contamination
- Additional surface lubricant to ease start-up
